Otokar has unveiled for the first time its newest electric armoured vehicle; Akrep II (Scorpion).
Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç said that the Turkish company has been taking bold steps to the goal of becoming a global brand in the defence industry; Otokar takes its claim in the defence industry to a new level with the new generation of Akrep II.
Akrep II has a modular platform so that it could be adapted to different mission.
The baseline version of the Akrep II vehicle provides all-around protection for the crew against small arms rounds and artillery shell splinters. This armoured scout car can be fitted with remotely controlled weapon station, armed with small- or medium-calibre gun. Lighter versions, armed with shielded 7.62-mm, 12.7-mm machine guns or 40-mm automatic grenade launcher are also available.
Görgüç noted that the Akrep II will be exhibited for the first time at the IDEF 2019 International Defence Industry Fair & Exhibition.
The scout is fit for reconnaissance missions as it has electric engine version. It is silent and does not emit heat.
