Turkish Minister of Defence Fikri Işık announced on his official Twitter Account that ROKETSAN-made medium range anti-tank missile OMTAS has entered inventory. Işık said the acceptance tests of the missile has been successfully completed. The graphic published on Işık's account revealed some of the missile's features. Accordingly, OMTAS has a length of 1,8 meters and weighs 35 kilograms. There are four modes of the system; fire-and-forget, fire-and-update, engage target before firing and engage target after firing. OMTAS hits its target directly or from above. Capable of operating at minus 35-60 celsius degrees, OMTAS has a range between 200 to 4 thousand meters. The missile can be launched from the turret of land vehicles or tripod launch platform. OMTAS is used against heavily armored vehicles. The missile uses liquid fuel fire- and bullet-insensitive ordnance.
