Safran Electronics & Defense has signed a contract with the NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) for the “Eurofl’Eye” panoramic vision system developed for NH90 helicopters. The project, carried out in partnership with NHIndustries and Thales, aims to meet the operational needs of France (DGA) and Spain (DGAM).
Seamless Vision with DAS Technology
Eurofl’Eye is a Distributed Aperture System (DAS) that provides pilots with 360-degree vision in challenging conditions such as night, dust, and fog. The system simultaneously displays images from six infrared cameras mounted on the fuselage onto the Thales-produced TopOwl helmet-mounted display. Thanks to this technology, pilots can monitor the external environment continuously with high situational awareness.
Alexandre Ziegler, Vice President of Safran Electronics & Defense, stated that the system will accelerate pilots’ decision-making processes and strengthen strategic cooperation within the European defense industry. The next-generation vision system will initially be used on NH90 TTH helicopters in the French and Spanish fleets.
