December 14, 2022MUSIAD – ASELSAN First Industrialization Event Organized
Organized under the coordination of the Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MUSIAD) Defence Industry Sector Board, “MUSIAD-ASELSAN 1st Industrialization Event” was organized.
The event held at MUSIAD Headquarters was attended by MUSIAD Chairman Mahmut Asmalı, ASELSAN Chairman and General Manager Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün and sector representatives attended.
In the event, which started with the speech of MUSIAD Defence Industry Sector Board Chairman Fatih AltunbaÅŸ, developments in the Turkish defence industry were discussed.
In his statements within the scope of the event, MUSIAD Chairman Mahmut Asmalı said that Turkey has further strengthened its strategic position with the defence industry breakthroughs it has made in recent years. He said: ‘’ Turkey has further strengthened its strategic position with its defence industry breakthrough in recent years. While our country has gained attention with the high-level technologies it has developed, it has gained the capacity to carry out all kinds of operations within and beyond its borders without any problems. As the leading member of NATO, the world’s largest defence pact, we believe that our contribution to regional and world peace will increase as we develop our national defence industry. Our defence industry now has a structure that produces its own unique products in a wide range thanks to its main contractors, subcontractors with advanced capabilities, SMEs, research institutions and universities, which are in the top 100 list in the world. In particular, we have become a leading country in the design, production and sale of armed unmanned aerial vehicles. In the defence industry, beyond meeting today’s needs, investments are made in the technologies of the future, the vehicles of the future, and the products of the future. Ambitious projects are being produced in the field of land, air and sea vehicles working on the basis of artificial intelligence. We stand out with our domestic and national technologies in every field that will meet the needs of the future, such as herd UAVs, unmanned sea vehicles, unmanned warplanes, electromagnetic guns, laser weapons and satellite systems. Undoubtedly, these successes add strength to the construction of the Turkish Centennial.’’
Speaking at the program, ASELSAN Chairman and General Manager Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün emphasized that ASELSAN is one of the 50 largest defence industry companies in the world. Görgün continued his words as follows: ‘’ We follow together what Turkish engineering and technology can do. ASELSAN, Turkey’s largest and one of the world’s top 50 defense industry companies, closed last year with a turnover of 21 billion TL and placed an order of over 2 billion dollars in the last 2 years. Exported to 80 countries. With nearly 10 thousand employees and close to a hundred strategic partners, our ASELSAN continues to grow and develop. Of course, these achievements of ASELSAN are not only possible with its own internal dynamics. I would like to express with pleasure that ASELSAN has a competent and wide ecosystem in all its achievements. Each of the products we develop, and produce is a product of common sense and hard work with our valuable stakeholders. ASELSAN is one of the strongest technology and industrial companies in our country in terms of its total supplier. Today, it has more than three thousand suppliers in more than fifty cities in many different regions of our country. I can happily state that we met about 70 percent of our orders with our domestic suppliers. Feeling this wholeheartedly with all our stakeholders, I express at every opportunity that we work in synergy, and we see the results of this synergetic work in the field as well.’’
