The CEO of the MiG Corporation, Ilya Tarasenko, revealed details of Russia's new interceptor aircraft, the MiG-41, at the Army 2017 Forum. Tarasenko stated that MiG-41 interceptor aircraft, known earlier as the PAK DP (perspective aviation complex of long-range interceptor), will be an “absolutely new jet,” not a modernized version of MiG-31 it would replace.
According to Tarasenko, the aircraft will be a gradual transition from MiG-31 to PAK DA and is estimated to go into production by the mid-2020s. MiG-41 will have the ability to operate in space, new weapons, new speeds, new operational range. Although the main features of the MiG-41 are not yet known, it is reported that the MiG-41 is designed to fly at Mach 4.0.
