April 28, 2017‘Meteor’ BVRAAM Approval for F-35
MBDA announced a new contract on 21 April awarded by the UK Ministry of Defence for integration of the Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) on the UK F-35B Lightning II multirole stealth aircraft. The contract value is $52,5 million and covers the development of an initial integration solution for Meteor on the F-35.
As Meteor BVRAAM's current tail design poses a challenge for integration of the missiles n the internal weapons bay of the F-35, there will be minor changes in the tail fin of the missile.
