The last of the four Iroquois-class destroyers of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) has been decommissioned during a ceremony at HMC Dockyard in Halifax on March 10. Having served in the navy since 30 September 1972, HMCS Athabaskan has been deployed on missions throughout the Atlantic and to the Indian Ocean, participated in several NATO missions, and disaster relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina.
