The Republic of Korea-based Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) made a statement about the construction of the new logistic support ship. The ship, which will provide supplies, water, ammunition and spare parts replenishment vessels in the open sea to the friendly and allied platforms, will meet the sea in April.

The first part of the construction of the new logistic support ship, which was built for the Royal New Zealand Navy and is planned to be commissioned under the name of HMNZS Aotearoa (A11), is nearing the end. The construction of the platform on the HHI facilities will be completed and the ship will be launched within this month. The ship, which was announced to be in service at the beginning of 2020 following the equipment integration process, is in the form of a special designed in wave-piercing form. The vessel is expected to have a length of 173.2 meters and a displacement of 26.000 tons. The platform, which can be managed by a crew of 64, includes a advanced aviation facilities, an advanced medical unit and advanced task mission control equipment.
