June 30, 2017Korea, Ready To Begin Mass Production
The Republic of Korean Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced on 28 June that EVO-105 Evolved Wheeled Self-Propelled Howitzer, developed by Samsung Techwin company, completed the final trials successfully and will proceed with mass production in 2018. DAPA said the system will be operated by the front line of the Republic of Korean military.
The 105 mm truck-mounted howitzer's development cycle began in 2009, and resulted in a prototype by 2011. The ROK Army has reportedly pre-ordered 800 units.
