The export of the KC-390 transport aircraft, developed under the main contractor of Brazil-based firm Embraer, continues.
The first of the transport planes expected to replace the C-130H Hercules fleet of the Portuguese Air Force (Força Aerea Portuguesa/ FAP) was displayed on the assembly line.
FAP has signed an agreement to supply five KC-390s in 2019.
Portugal, which is in the development and production phases of the KC-390, will pay approximately US$930 million for flight simulator and maintenance service over a 12-year period with five aircraft.
According to the planning, the KC-390s will be delivered between 2023 and 2027.
The transport plane, which can carry Cobham- produced refuelling kits under the wing, has a BAE Systems flight control computer.
