Japan Tighten Entry to Defence Industry

Japan, which has strict laws prohibiting the manufacture of strategic weapons, sending troops to foreign countries, and military exports, came to the agenda with a new development.

Significant restrictions are imposed on the Japanese industry, where 1% of foreign investors own it. In this context, Tokyo will tighten the entry of foreign investors into 12 sectors, which are considered critical for national security. In addition to areas such as power, oil, telecommunications, water supply, cyber security, railways; foreign investors' entry into the arms, aviation and space industry will be more difficult.

Although there are many uncertainties in the decision taken, the Japanese administration underlines that the sectors in question have strategic importance for national security.
