September 22, 2017Japan Deployed PAC-3 To Hokkaido
Japan deployed a Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) surface-to-air missile defence system to a base in southern Hokkaido on 19 September in response to recent North Korean missile tests. The missiles fired by North Korea on 29 August and 15 September flew over the south of Hokkaido before falling in the Pacific Ocean. The PAC-3 deployment aims to interfere any falling parts of North's missiles if the same flight path used again in the future.
