The Indonesian Navy (Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Laut: TNI-AL) held a ceremony on April 5 to build a “Submarine support station” in the South China Sea.
About $40 million will be spent to fund the submarine base, which was first raised in 2016. There will also be an additional building of 585 m2 with 11 rooms in the area that will cover 1,050 m2 of land.
In addition to the facility, a 555 kVa electrical relay will be provided along the pier for the deployment of more submarines.
The TNI-AL inventory includes conventional submarines of the Type 209 /1300 and Nagapasa (Type 209/1400) class. Aselsan provides ZOKA Acoustic Torpedo Countermeasure Mixers and Deceptors for Nagapasas.
