Satellite Communication (SATCOM) systems are one of the most important components for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to work at a distance beyond the horizon.

Istanbul based CTech company, has developed portable satellite communication systems with domestic facilities. The system was first integrated into TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace) production Anka-S UAVs. Called CTech Mobil (DEV-Ku-18 Terminal), the air and ground terminals of the system, as well as ground stations and all other subcomponents were developed by the company. Systems can be used in all ambient conditions, day and night by high-speed platforms such as fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, as well as UAVs. The total weight of DEV-Ku-18, which allows data transfer up to 20 megabytes per second transfer rate, is around 24 kilograms, including antenna, modem and ACU.

The hardware, which enables UAVs to be controlled from any desired location, increases the effectiveness of the platforms with its features such as a jamming-resistant structure and safe data transfer.
