The Indian Navy’s Kalvari-class (Scorpène-class) submarine has successfully conducted the first test firing of an anti-ship guided missile in the Arabian Sea. Arabian Sea is Pakistan’s only sea trade route.
The French SM-39 Exocet anti-ship missile successfully struck a surface target at extended ranges during the test firing, which marked a significant milestone in enhancing the Indian Navy’s sub-surface warfare capability.
The Kalvari submarine is the first in a series of six Scorpene-class vessels being constructed in the country for the Indian Navy.
