The joint five-year Indo-Russian Multirole Transport Aircraft (MTA) project has been officially cancelled, announced on 24 March. Emphasizing that the relations had not been broken off, Russia's Minister for Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov said a solution that would be beneficial for the two countries could not be reached.
The project, preliminary design contract of which was signed in 2012, was undertaken by United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in order to replace the Soviet-era An-32 Transport Aircraft.
