The Indian Defence Acquisition Council was convened yesterday under the chairmanship of Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. At the meeting, India's six new generation offshore patrol platforms (Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel / NGOPV) procurement was approved. In this context, India-based shipyards will be suppliers. The project is planned to cost approximately US $ 706 million.
India plans to use these vessels for operations such as marine interception operations, patrol missions, surveillance and mine warfare operations with modular equipments.
