India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) company has developed a launcher prototype for the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile for fitment onto Indian Navy (IN) warships.
The Quadruple Canisterised Inclined Launcher (QCIL), which was delivered to BrahMos Aerospace on 7 May, has been designed to launch up to four BrahMos missiles in an inclined configuration. The new launcher will be fitted on warships unable to accommodate a vertical launch module system due to space constraints. The company collaborated with BrahMos Aerospace during 18-month development.
