Images from Colombia’s New Corvette

New images have been shared from the Po Hang-class corvette donated by the Republic of Korea to Colombia.

The corvette, called Almirante Tono, shows Leonardo twin 40L70 mm cannons being replaced with two M61A1 Sea Vulcans. Korea carried out adaptation, repair and maintenance work before delivering the platform to Colombia. The ship will move to Colombia at the end of this month (September 2020) and will be deployed to the Caribbean for maritime control and narcotics operations.

Po Hang-class corvette can optionally be equipped with RGM-84 Harpoon guided shells.

Along with the new corvette, the Colombian Navy will have two different platform classes. The FS 1500 corvette, developed by Germany-based ThyssenKrupp HDW in line with Colombia's needs, was delivered in 1983.
