The AgustaWestland AW139 helicopter simulation training center produced by Havelsan for Qatar officially commissioned. Havelsan announced on its official Twitter account that “The opening of the Qatar AW139 Simulation Training Center was held with the participation of Turkish and Qatari Defence Ministers.” The Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM), on its official twitter account, said, “We wish the AW139 Flight Training Center, made by Havelsan, to be an important milestone in our long-term relationships with Qatar.”

Within the context of the Qatar AW139 Simulator Center Project started in May 2013, HAVELSAN produces a Full Task Simulator for Qatar Air Forces, a Flight and Navigation Procedures Trainer, Cabin Team Training Simulator, Debrifing System and Tactical Control Center. The pilot training and operation of the center will be undertaken by HAVELSAN Education Center. Within the scope of the project, local subcontractors working in HAVELSAN's business ecosystem are also involved.

The signing ceremony took place in Qatar by the attendance of Undersecretary for Defence Industries, Prof.Dr. İsmail Demir and HAVELSAN General Manager and CEO, Ahmet Hamdi Atalay.

Qatar Air Force pilots will conduct AW139h trainings as part of the training center set up in the HAVELSAN simulators and systems. The center, which cost about $40 million, will train a thousand pilots a year. The AW139 simulator successfully served for training of more than 50 Qatar pilots at HAVELSAN's simulator center in Ankara before being disassembled for export.

HAVELSAN has established its first center in the Middle East in Qatar a while ago in order to ensure the continuity of the projects carried out in this country and to evaluate new business opportunities.
