Turkish Machinery and Chemical Industries Association (MKEK) announced the launch of concept studies on guided ball munitions in IDEX 2017. MKEK General Manager Ahmet Taşkın announced that they were working on 155 mm diameter guided ammunition and that they included several companies operating in Turkey's defense industry sector. The first prototype is scheduled to be tested at the end of this year. Studies will be conducted that will significantly increase the hit rate of ammunition with integrated guidance systems. Laser Guidance will be used for near targets, Inertial Navigation System (INS) for medium range targets and INS guidance system with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) aided for maximum range targets.
