Ground tests of the laser based communication system developed by General Atomics have been completed. The so-called Airborne Laser Communication System (ALCoS) has managed to establish a connection with a geosynchronous orbiting satellite for the first time within the scope of the tests. The hardware planned to be used in MALE / (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) UAVs provided data transfer to the 135th Laser Communication Terminal of Alphasat Satellite of Tesat-Spacecom.
