An important phase was left behind in the operational process of OH-58D armed reconnaissance helicopters of Hellenic Army, which were procured from the USA by donating.
With the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopters, which are expected to increase significantly to the armed reconnaissance and observation capabilities of the Hellenic Army, the first live fire training of Greek personnel was carried out on January 29. The live fire activities of the platforms assigned to the 1st Army Air Regiment (1η ΤΑΞΑΣ) were carried out in the Litochoro Area. The Army stated that the weapons, systems and operational capabilities of helicopters were also tested.
The OH-58D Kiowa Warriors, which made their first flight in 1983, can safely carry out reconnaissance missions cresting by hiding the body thanks to the powerful optical-electrooptic equipment they carry on the rotor. Platform is driven by 650 hp Rolls-Royce Allison T703-AD-700 engine. AGM-114 Hellfire anti-tank missiles can be equipped by the helicopter as well as 2.75 “Hydra rockets, and different weapons for low-intensity combats and opportunity attacks.
