The German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) shook hands with the world-famous firearms manufacturer Ceska zbrojovka a.s. (CZ) for its new standard sidearm. CZ, which won the internationally organized open tender, left many global competitors behind and became a strategic partner in the German Army’s modernization process.
The Bundeswehr’s New Service Pistol: P13
The new pistols, which will be named P13 in the Bundeswehr inventory, are based on the CZ P-10 C OR (Optics-Ready) model. Drawing attention with their Flat Dark Earth (FDE) coating, these models have a “striker-fired” (firing-pin-driven) structure optimized especially for professional use.
Operational Preference: The Technical Superiority of the CZ P-10 C
In the selection of the Bundeswehr’s new service pistol, the high performance of the CZ P-10 C series on the modern battlefield and its operational flexibility played a decisive role. The model, known especially for its “striker-fired” mechanism, moved ahead of its competitors with its superior ergonomics, intuitive grip capability, and durability under harsh field conditions. The P13, which has a high magazine capacity and is fully compatible with current sighting systems thanks to its “Optics-Ready” structure, has been equipped with technical features that will meet military personnel’s need for fast and precise shooting.
CZ CEO Jan Zajíc: “The Most Important Success of Our Modern History”
Evaluating the tender result, CZ CEO and Chairman of the Board Jan Zajíc emphasized that this cooperation is one of the biggest turning points in the company’s history. Zajíc stated, “This success is proof of the superior reputation our weapons have gained in active use. We aim to conduct a long-term partnership with the Bundeswehr.”
CZ will carry out the implementation of the contract and the technical support process together with its authorized partner in Germany, POL-TEC GmbH & Co.
