Russian MiG Corporation is working on development of a new interceptor aircraft to replace MiG-31 long-range supersonic aircraft. The company's General Director Ilya Tarasenko stated that that work on the new aircraft was already underway.

Derived from MiG-25 Foxbat, MiG-31 'Foxhound' was designed for use against both high and low-altitude airborne targets and has been in service since 1980s.

The company also plans to introduce new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) which are capable of performing reconnaissance missions, conducting electronic warfare, and striking at enemy targets all at the same time. Tarasenko confirmed that development work on drones has already reached the prototype stage.
