The pilot training program of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has been raised in the country. A video of plan for pilot training has been released on China Central Television 7 (CCTV 7).
The Shenyang FC-31 fighter jet, which was shown as a counterpart to the F-35 Lightning II, was allegedly viewed in the PLAN video. A pilot who sat on the platform thought to be FC-31 and information about the application process was included in the video.
In the early 2010s, the deployment of the Platform on the aircraft carrier was first brought up. After the video was released, it was raised that the aircraft, also known as J-31, could be deployed on a next-generation aircraft carrier.
According to the PLAN's website on the pilot training program, students will graduate in five years. Experts believe that the FC-31, which is under development, could finish the necessary modifications and enter the PLAN's inventory within five years.
Recent photos circulating on Chinese social media show the FC-31 has been making new test flights as one prototype is painted in a new silver-gray coating, reports said.
