Domestic production weapons were used extensively in Operation Spring Shield. It is a success story for the Turkish defence industry. The star systems of the operation were undoubtedly Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles.

Turkey deeply felt the lack of domestic defence industry in the 60s and 70s. The steps taken in late 1970 continued with the establishment of the infrastructure in the 80s. While the first products were produced under license, the accumulation of knowledge and the need for trained personnel began to take shape.
