India, which initiated the Made in India Program to strengthen the defence sector and contribute to the industrial infrastructure, is turning to systems developed with domestic resources.

India continues to equip its armed forces with indigenous products. According to the statement made by the state's Press Information Bureau on August 11, New Delhi approved the procurement of the new system which costs USD 1.17 billion. In this context, 70 HTT-40 (Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40) training aircraft will be delivered. The certification process of the platforms developed by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) is currently in progress. Following the completion of the testing and evaluation processes of the aircraft, 36 are planned to be put into service and become operational immediately. HTT-40, which has not yet reached the serial production stage, made its first flight in June 2016 after a six-year delay.

Naval requirements were also included in the comprehensive package. BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited) will procure an undisclosed amount of 127 mm ship cannons with 64 calibre barrels. It is stated that the systems will be integrated into the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard platforms. It was announced that it will be integrated 13 platforms first, which includes Shivalik Class frigates and Delhi Class destroyers.

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) of India has announced the approval of procurement plans for the Indian Army for 125 mm APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) armour-piercing ammunition, assault rifle and unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). The announcement also included the information that at least 70% of the ammunition to be procured in this context will be acquired from domestic suppliers.
