The Russian Navy is set to commission sixth Buyan-M corvette Vyshny Volochyok by the end of this month, the Russian defense ministry announced on Tuesday.
The Buyan-M class of corvettes are upgraded versions of Project 21630 (Buyan) vessels which are armed with long-range cruise missile system Kalibr-NK. The corvettes are built at the Zelenodolsk Shipyard under a contract signed in 2010. The Buyan-M Class corvettes displace about 1 thousand tons and reach a maximum speed of 23 knots.
