Bulgaria has decided not to proceed with the acquisition of eight JAS-39 Gripen fighter aircraft. The country will instead launch a new tender and request new offers from Portugal and Italy after the tender is officially issued in November, according to the Ministry of Defence. Â
Bulgarian government decided to pull away from the purchase of Gripen in early October which would replace its MiG-29 fighter. Approximately $899.8 million has been earmarked for the program.
