Boeing, which has 150 thousand employees worldwide, is making new plans for its operation due to the economic impact of the coronavirus.
Last week Boeing halted operations at its twin-aisle factory and other facilities around Seattle after more than a dozen employees were infected – at least one fatally – by the virus that causes COVID-19.
Boeing General Manager Dave Calhoun has announced that they have prepared a voluntary layoff plan for the staff and will be offered a wage and benefits package to employees who want to exit the company. Calhoun said that the coronavirus pandemic will have a lasting impact on the global aviation industry, and added: “It will take time for the aviation and space industry to get out of the crisis.”
