BAE Systems has signed a $473 million contract for the production of 40 additional M109A7 Paladin self-propelled howitzer systems.
This order, awarded in September by the U.S. Army Contracting Command (ACC) Detroit, represents the first award under a five-year contract. The sets include M109A7 howitzers as well as M992A3 ammunition resupply vehicles (Carrier Ammunition Tracked).
The $473 million contract also covers additional support services, including technical support packages, post-production refurbishment, and parts compatibility. Production of the M109A7 systems will take place at BAE Systems’ facilities in York, Pennsylvania; Elgin, Oklahoma; and Anniston, Alabama.
“Decisive Superiority on the Battlefield”
Dan Furber, Director of Artillery and Combat Support Programs at BAE Systems, stated that the M109A7 Paladin provides the firepower and operational advantage soldiers need on the modern battlefield. Furber added that this platform offers decisive superiority in any conflict, and they look forward to continuing to deliver this proven capability to the U.S. Army.
