ASELSAN CEO Faik Eken said that they wanted to move the electric bus engine technology developed for the civil sector into the defence field. Speaking to the C4Defence magazine, Eken stated that they will keep the option of using electric engines in future versions of the Fırtına  (Storm) Howitzer on their agenda. He said ASELSAN is working on what can be done in case such an engine requirement comes to the frame. When  reminded of such an engine could also be used on a tank, Eken said, “Our vision is in future versions of the Fırtına Howitzer, an issue that is independent of the workings of today's tank engines.”
