ASELSAN's sonobuoy project is close to the successful end. The system, which is called ASELBUOY and started to develop as a R&D project in 2016 with company's own resources, is proceeding with sure steps. The actual sensor tests that started in specific areas determined in the first stage were followed by the first airborne test last month. Compliance tests are followed by ballistic tests at various altitudes and speeds, and completion of the project expected for 2019.

ASELBUOY is also being tested at higher speeds, aiming to be seen on the international market.

ASELBUOY, developed in for launch from maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters or surface platforms. It is is a passive sonobuoy in size A. The system works in two different working depths of 30 and 150 meters. It has a working time from 0.5 hours to 8 hours and can broadcast from 96 different VHF channels which can adjust before launch. The system, which collects acoustic information in the frequency band of 5 to 2400 Hz, can also be remotely programmed and sink itself at the end of the run time.
