Israel announced that a Syrian surface-to-air missile (SAM) was intercepted using Arrow anti-ballistic missile system. The system was used to bring down a Syrian surface-to-air missile that was targeting Israeli aircraft. This incident marks the first combat use of Arrow system. Israeli media stated the missile was intercepted north of Jerusalem.
Arrow anti-ballistic missile system, also called Hetz, was jointly developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the US company Boeing.
