Hungary has reached an agreement with the United States for the missile to be deployed in NASAMS air defence system.
Hungary has purchased the AMRAAM-ER, the AMRAAM air-to-air missile developed by Raytheon, an expanded range variant from sale to air. Budapest will pay US$1 billion in exchange for ammunition.
NASAMS, a medium-range, network-centric air defence system produced by Raytheon and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, can launch multiple missiles, including AMRAAM-ER
