Airbus signed an agreement with Germany for Heron TP unmanned aerial vehicles. Under the agreement, Airbus will provide Heron TP and the necessary operational services for the German Army. Following the two-year preparation period, operational support services will be provided in the seven-year operational phase. Germany will receive five UAVs and four ground stations. The platforms will have encrypted datalink to be supplied by Germany with SATCOM, electrooptic and IR sensors. It will also have weather radar to be used in bad weather situations.
