The Airbus Summit took place from 30 November to 1 December. At the summit, Airbus showcased its developments in the aerospace sector.

In this context, one of the projects introduced at the Summit was the DisruptiveLab laboratory. DisruptiveLab is designed as a new flight lab designed to test technologies to improve aircraft performance and reduce helicopters’ CO2 emissions.

Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, said: “DisruptiveLab goes one step further in Airbus Helicopters’ ambitious strategy to reduce the environmental impact of its helicopters and to lead a sustainable aviation industry. The innovative architecture and fully parallel hybrid propulsion system provides a percent in CO2 reduction. It could only really be tested on a brand-new demonstrator to confirm the combined effect that could go up to 50.”

Designed to save fuel consumption by reducing friction, DisruptiveLab has aerodynamic aluminum and composite body. DisruptiveLab is expected to improve aircraft performance and reduce its environmental footprint.
