The US Senate halted plans temporarily LRIP F-35A Lightning aircraft using as Aggressor.
With the modern aircraft development projects in Russia and China with low radar cross-sectional area, the US Air Force began preparations to take measures against the fifth generation threats coming from the east. In this context, the plan of using LRIP F-35A Lightning IIs as “Aggressor” missions has been temporarily suspended. The decision of the F-35As, which was postponed to a later date due to the Congress's request for a detailed report about the plan. Using F-35s will be decided after the necessary investigations on the Aggressor appointments. The report, which will be presented to the authorities by the force, will include detailed financing reviews of potential areas where platforms will be deployed and flight tasks to be performed and the necessary analyzes, infrastructure requirements, environmental factors, possible costs and the increasing number of currently flying 18 platforms to 24 for such purposes. In addition, Congress requested another report for the modernization of existing Aggressor aircraft with radar, IRST, radar warning receiver, tactical datalink, electronic jamming pods for simulating threats. Congress also supports the taking of the necessary steps in the tactical and training fields against the new generation threats such as J-20 and Su-57.
Aggressor squadrons are special purpose fleets. Pilots are trained and equipped to perform enemy missions. In this way, squadrons, which have the ability to combat with the tactical, technical and procedures of the counterforce, increases the realism of the pilot training.
