Additional Investment to ASW Capability

The Philippines, which has carrying out the process of restructuring its armed forces, is increasing investments in naval power.

Philippine Navy Commander Rear Admiral Robert Empedrad made a statement about the investments to be made for the navy at the retirement ceremony of the phased out ships. “We will acquire two additional anti submarine warfare helicopters to provide long-range patrol-patrol capability for the two corvettes we will procure in the future,” Empedrad said. Admiral also stated that the ships to be acquired under the Horizon 2 Program launched in 2018 for the modernization of the army will deploy with AW159s received last year.
