Japan is to receive a further batch of 56 Raytheon AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) following approval of a potential sale by the US State Department on 4 October. The estimated cost of the purchase is $113 million. The most advanced variant of the AMRAAM available for export, the AIM-120C-7 will augment the earlier AIM-120C-5 variant currently in the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) inventory.
