30th Arleigh Burke, Ready For Delivery

The HHI-built 30th Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114) has completed a builder's trials programme. Built by shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), USS Ralph Johnson spent four days underway in the Gulf of Mexico last week, testing the vessel’s systems and its readiness before delivery. HII has also launched the US Navy's 31st Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) guided missile destroyer, Paul Ignatius (DDG 117), just a week ago.

The Arleigh Burke-class destroyers are multi-mission ships with anti-submarine, anti-air and anti-surface capabilities and can perform a variety of operations ranging from peacetime presence and crisis management to sea control and power projection.
