USAF (US Air Force) is considering integration of audio warning system to A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft. In this context, USAF has started to study.
How many units will be procured in order to increase the situational awareness of pilots has not been determined yet. All of the A-10 Thunderbolt II fleet or a part of the fleet is yet to be integrated. A total of 150 to 200 units are expected to be procured a 3-D audio warning system. Thanks to the 3-D technology, pilots can monitor more alarms and warning notifications at the same time. In addition, the system can also warn pilots with audio from the location of threats. For example, if a missile is approaching the plane from the left rear side of an aircraft, the warning sound is given to the pilot from the left behind side. In this way, pilots' situational awareness and flight safety are increased.
