The European defense organization OCCARhas tasked Artec GmbH with delivering a total of 222 Schakal (Jackal) wheeled armored combat vehicles to the armed forces of Germany and the Netherlands.
Under the €3.41 billion contract, deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2031. This new combat vehicle combines theBoxer wheeled armored vehicle chassis with the turret of the Puma vehicle. According to the contract, 150 vehicles will be delivered to the German Armed Forces and 72 vehicles to the Dutch Army.
Rheinmetall’s share of the contract is approximately €3 billion. The agreement also includes a comprehensive logistics package covering spare parts, training materials, and specialized equipment. Optional additional systems includeprotection against anti-tank handheld weapons, fire detection, and drone defense.
In the German Armed Forces, the vehicle is built on the 8×8 Boxer platform and equipped with Rheinmetall’s MK 30-2 / EBM turret. Armed with the 30 mm gun of the Puma vehicle, this system will serve as themain weapon of Germany’s newly formed medium forces unit.
