BAE Systems, in cooperation with Israel Military Industries (IMI Systems), has unveiled the first technology demonstrator of the upgraded Challenger 2 tank known as Black Night. Two companies have formerly integrated the Iron Fist (Active Protection System /APS) into the CV90 combat vehicle.
According to Jane’s, the Challenger 2 Life Extension Project (LEP) is intended to address mission system obsolescence and ensure that the vehicle remains supportable until 2035.
