US State Department has decided approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Kuwait of various Mk- series munitions for an estimated cost of $40.4 million. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.
The Government of Kuwait has requested to buy 1 020 Mk-82 500 lb. bombs, 1002 Mk-83 1000 lb. bombs and 600 Mk-84 2000 lb. bombs. Also included in the sale are general purpose bomb components and fuses, support and test equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, transportation, facilities and construction, U.S. Government and contractor technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistic and program support. The estimated cost is $40.4 million.
Kuwait intends to use these munitions with its current fleet of F/A-18 aircraft.
Boeing has received a USD1.5 billion contracts for the production and delivery of 28 F/A-18E/F Super Hornet combat aircraft for Kuwait. Kuwait will receive 22 single-seat F/A-18Es and six twin-seat F/A-18Fs by the end of January 2021.
