The US Army has selected Oshkosh to build its new Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) A2 variant under an initial $476,2 million contract. The contract award was announced on 7 February.
Oshkosh has been selected over AM General. The company has been manufacturing the FMTV A1 variant since 2009. If all options are exercised during a five-year ordering period plus two additional one-year options, Oshkosh could produce up to 2,400 vehicles under the contract, according to a Federal Business Opportunities notice. The estimated date of completion is February 2022.
