Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Finance has announced a defence budget of about $56 billion for 2018 in late December. This shows a 10 percent increase compared to 2017 and makes the country's defence budget the fourth largest in the world after the United States, China, and Russia.
According to the statement of the ministry, around 5 percent of this budget will be spent for the development of new programs and projects while $5 billion will be invested to enhance military capabilities, and the local defence industry. $930 million will be provided to support the military education sector.
