The Belarusian Ministry of Defense announced that a new batch of Su-30SM2 multirole fighter aircraft procured from the Russian Federation has arrived at one of Belarus’s airfields. The ministry shared details of the delivery process with the public via its official Telegram channel. The new aircraft have been added to the existing weapons inventory of the Belarus Air Force and Air Defense Forces. Air Force Command Evaluates the Delivery
Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, Colonel Alexander Belyaev, described the delivery of the new aircraft as an important development for the military personnel. Stating that the primary duty of air force personnel is to protect the country’s borders, Belyaev noted that flying a new aircraft is not only an honorable task but also one that entails great responsibility.
Technical Equipment of the Su-30SM2 Platform
The Su-30SM2 is a fighter aircraft that stands out with its high maneuverability and advanced performance characteristics. The platform is equipped with a wide range of weapons, including advanced radio-electronic equipment, next-generation electronic warfare systems, and long-range munitions. This variant, which is a continuation of the models used by the Russian Aerospace Forces and Navy, raises operational effectiveness to a high level thanks to its modern avionics architecture.
Belarus is gradually bringing Su-30SM2 aircraft into service in order to strengthen its air defense umbrella. While the previous batch of aircraft entered the inventory at the end of December, the expansion of the fleet continues with this new delivery carried out as of January 2026. The aircraft, shipped directly from the factory, are being delivered to units for use in active duties in line with the modernization goals of the Belarus Air Force.
