Russia rolled up its sleeves to develop a fighter aircraft capable of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). Russian Deputy Defence Minister Yuri Borisov announced on Tuesday at the MAKS 2017 airshow that they started discussions on the subject with domestic air platform manufacturers. Borisov added that the new aircraft would be based on the Yak family.
Despite the fact that there is no finalized project yet, Russia made clear that it wants to compete in the VTOL aircraft market with this statement.
